Goodies!!!

Got some goodies in the mail today(check for official reviews on them coming this week!)

For our "Game a Day" challenge we played a couple games today. Two of which are on kickstarter, One that was previously on kickstarter and another that is from a well known company.

First up was BEARS! by Fireside Games, This is a nice simultaneous dice drafting game with an awesome camping theme to it. Very frantic, fast paced and fun!

Second up was a game called RelicBlade on Kickstarter currently 135% funded with 25 Days to go! It's a GREAT miniatures skirmish game. For my demo I used my own minis but it's important to note that this game is being made by ONE MAN and he is SKILLED. He's even got custom mini's for the game as well as a host of other things and talents he's putting to use. Top that with beautiful art and you have a winner!

Third was a kickstarter game called Vampsylvania that's currently at 227% funded with 15 days to go! A card game where you play vampires trying to slay the villagers. But there are some sneaky twists in there as well!

And Last but not least, a game I got from my favorite game maker Pencil First Games called The Siblings Trouble. It's a card based story driven game with some awesome elements. This game is FUN. All these games are FUN. But these pics should hold you over until I pop out the reviews for each of them. :)

Gem Packed Dungeon!

What's going on everyone! Today for our game of the day challenge we ended up playing two games. Gem Packed Cards and Dungeon Roll.

Both games are HIGHLY addicting and extremely fun. Tonight was our first play with 3 players on GPC and I have to say, It was not confusing or slow at all! The game played just as smoothly and quickly as with 2 players which is a nice thing to find in a game. A lot of times you have to account for the amount of players vs the play time of the game, Not here at all! Might have been a few minutes SHORTER to be honest. :)

Now, Dungeon Roll as you may have read in past posts is one of my favorite dice games so it's no surprise that I enjoyed it tonight. Again, A 3 player game was played and have tons of fun teaching my Pops about the game. He even ended up winning!

We played Heldentaufe!

What's going on everyone! I was hoping to show a video demo of the game I played today with my daughter. After some difficulties I decided to do it in the form of a review so sit back and enjoy!






I wanted to throw a review together for a great looking game coming out soon that is currently on kickstarter with 89% funding! You may have seen my Kickstarter PSA for it and if not, it's cool, it's cool man.

Now, the game is a family friendly adventure board game for all.

It features an upper world with modular tiles that you can explore away on such as but not limited to:

Forests that contain hidden treasures.
Ponds for fishing.
Orchards for collecting apples.
Trade Markets.
Laboratory.
Fields and more!

You characters have different stats as well. Depending on which one you chose, you may have higher HP, Easier potion crafting, Bigger bag to carry your goods in and so on.

The art on the characters are very well done. They give you a sense of fun just by seeing the different ones you can play as.


Now, As I mentioned there's an upper world, there's also an Underworld filled with mosters, traps and treasure!

As you go down to the underworld, it starts to come alive right before you. So be sure to get what you need and back out quickly! Each time you exit and there are no other adventurers there, it completely resets which is nice because if you're close to winning, that could put you ahead.


Speaking of winning, the game relies on you to do various tasks in order to game "Monster Teeth". These teeth act as your points and after you complete certain quests and get your teeth up to 18 total, you can head back to base camp and win the game!

The quests, goals, items and teeth are going to be on cards. You do "this" to get "that". Or sometimes you do "this" and you can choose from "that" or "that". So it's a really nice and level way to play. If there's a card you don't like, you can spend action points to redraw a new one.

If you complete any of your cards, at the end of your turn you'll be able to redraw new ones for free.



So, the game.

Well, I played a few times on the demo and LOVED it. Today I played it with my daughter and she LOVED it as well. She's highly interested in this game and that says a lot for me. Sometimes it's hard to get her to play some of the games we have but I think that's because we have a little "explorer" here with us who wants to go on adventures.

I HIGHLY suggest you check it out. Keep in mind the demo is just that, a Demo. It's a short representation of the potential the game actually holds. Imagine all the fun in that box!

Welcome to the Dungeon!

Tonight my daughter and I played Welcome to the Dungeon. It's a fun little game and really can be a mean one, lol. Basically, you and another player(in the 2 player version) are bidding through the monster cards and creating a dungeon filled with them.

If you see a monster you DON'T want in the dungeon you place it face down in front of you and take one of the Adventurers items away. Now, this is what makes it hard because essentially you're BOTH playing as that particular adventurer. Once a player chooses to "pass" then the OTHER player must now go and fight all the monsters that have been placed into the dungeon with whatever items are left.

Should you fail to slay them all, you lose. 2 losses and you're out of the game. It's a fast, fun and brutal way to play..lol. I love it!

I did find out tonight that my daughter plays JUST as aggressive as her mother, She kicked my butt at this one. But I'll have my chance another day. I'd like to try this as a 3 player game and see how things turn out.

Gem Packed Night!

Today I got a kickstarter game in the mail so I figured that was the perfect game to play for the day. It's called Gem Packed Cards and it's by Eduardo Baraf and artwork by Katherine Waddell.

I'll be doing a full review of the game in a few days time so I don't want to go into detail just yet. Because of this, The post today is a little short but I've got some pictures to share! :D

I will say this one thing, My wife kicked my butt yet again. 25 - 13..lol.

We came, We saw, They kicked my A...wesome Kingdom!

What's going on everyone. Tonight for game night I got my daughter involved in a game with us. You see, It's nice knowing that my wife and I can happily play most games together but we also share the empty feeling when our daughter gets busy with life, friends and videogames.

She's a growing girl so I know things will change over time but one thing I'd like to keep reminding her is that we LOVE playing games with her now, just as much as when she was younger and less "cool"..lol.


So anyways, On to the post! :D



Tonight we played Awesome Kingdom. It's a bit of a "take that" or maybe "gimme gimme gimme" type game. We as players have to go through awesome kindom and try to grab as much treasures. magic items, booboo's and points as possible within 3 days. It seems like a pretty laid back venture off the start but then again, you and the other heroes have never met... So who can you trust around here...





So, after getting everything set up and finding out which character we were each going to be taking the role of, we sat in our corners and hatched out our plans against each other and the glorious treasures that awaited us at the end of the journey!

As you can see to the right of your screen here, They're soaking in their characters and coming up with some devious plots, I can TELL!

Pretty much after the first round here. Everything was smooth sailing so I figured that MAYBE I had a chance to walk away with the most gold and present it to my fair lady! She would be SO proud of me!

My wife and daughter were at eachothers throats when it came to the point count, It was a CLOSE call but I'm happy to say that they BOTH are awesome because they TIED! That's a Shared win for the devious duo! 15 Awesome Points EACH!!!

But alas, in the end it doesn't even matter! I tried my trials to their best. I ended up with a HUGE amount of points! 7 to be exact... 7...Awesome...Points.

It was a great time and I had a lot of fun.

We need to play more games together, just the three of us. Because it's times like these that my daughter will soon grow out of and have only memories of. If her memory gets like mine does, then she won't know what she's lost until it's gone forever.

I love you sam and trinity, You girls are my favorite tabletop frienemies! :P

Plants fighting Plants, It's mass hysteria man!

What's going on everyone! Had another VERY eventful day today. First off, I got some goodies in the mail today.

Ok, so as you can see it was pretty eventful around mail time today. But that's not all! Today is ALSO the day that THE GAME OF ENERGY hits KICKSTARTER! Seriously, If you've not checked it out you REALLY should. I've had the privilege of testing and reviewing the game and it's a blast! This game has it all and is even "Noob" Friendly!


So while all that was going on today, I worked on getting some more contacts established. Those seem to be coming along. Some are hit and miss but over all I like where I'm at with it.

I also started a NEW section for posts called Tabletop Crafts. These will be posts that have to do with other items I've made, either for games or general use. So be sure to check those out as they roll in!


Now on to the good stuff, The reason that I got started here. My game today.


Well if you had any kind of confusion after everything you've just read, Tonights game was an awesome game called Conflict of Plants!  This is a VERY fun game and time goes by nicely. What I mean is, you don't feel like you're in a hurry or wasting time. It's Just right.

So anyways, My wife and I were eager to get this one to the table so we did. After a quick refresher course we caught right back on and were off!


Turns out, she KICKED my ASS! But it was all in great fun. It's funny how certain games sneak up on you. What I mean is that, even though I have a pretty well grasp of the game, there are questions here and there, this game does you a favor by helping you to remember which comes next and what to do. All thanks to it's Player Action Sheet.
 

So anyways, I don't want to get into a review in my game a night blog post..lol. I'll save an actual review of the game for a later date! On to some pics! :)
