Quick, Call the Wizard!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the "Game a Day" challenge my lovely wife and I played something that I've been itching to get to the table. Last month a the Lexicon Tabletop Convention I was able to pic up something I've been wanting for the past year. The Wizards Tower expansion for Castle Panic by FIRESIDE GAMES!

As excited as I was to get it to the table, it unfortunately took this long, but the wait was over tonight! We got to play an intense session using this expansion and WOW did it add a lot more to the game! At first I was thinking "eh, this should be pretty cool. We're not bad at the core game so hopefully this will give us some challenge". Boy was I WRONG! This expansion is AWESOME! It adds in not only wizard cards which can have magical spells and abilities on them but also, new monsters, new castle cards, the wizards tower and probably the most dreaded of the set, Mega Boss Monsters!

So after going through the setup which was pretty straight forward and quick, we were finally ready to play. Things started of on a decent note with us still having the confidence that we have in the core game but that soon went away as we were getting slaughtered by the enemies new and old!

We ended up lasting quite a while into the game and even had to reshuffle the castle cards once before meeting our untimely doom.

All in all, I will DEFINITELY play this one again, it's amazing how much is added and changed up for the better. Maybe we'll get better luck next time but for now, I'm kind of thankful we lost RIGHT before the dreaded dragon had come out! It was actually the next monster that would have been placed had we not lost the turn before!

Here's a few pics from tonight's session:

As always, thank you for reading and take care! :)

  1. Nice! It wasn't so long ago that I picked that one up myself. I agree: the expansion adds some much-needed variety and interest to the core game. I don't imagine I'll ever play again without it.

    1. I completely agree, I don't know if I'll ever play without the expansion again. This is one of those prime examples of how an expansion can further enhance a game instead of just adding flashy components or longer gameplay which is sadly the case sometimes with games.
