Cooking up a game!

What's going on everyone!? Today hasn't been an easy one to deal with. Had plenty of bad luck happen today. One part of it was remedied from a great friend on facebook. The other, not so much. :/

It seems that my motherboard on my PC has unexpectedly stopped working which means I can't do a few reviews as the pics were on the computer. This also means that I can't do any videos that I had planned!

So I thought I would take this time to mention that I have a patreon page which you can check out and help support HERE.

The contributions that go to the page are for things such as this problem exactly. It would help me upgrade my hardware for recording and pictures for the reviews as well as provide me with the support to keep going to conventions so I can share them with you one on one.

As an added benefit, if you are a supporter on there you will have a first look at some of the reviews up to 24 hours before I post them here or anywhere else. On top of that, there are a few other rewards for being a supporter. So please take a moment to check that out and give it a share around. It would mean a great deal to me.

For the "Game a Day" this evening, my lovely wife and I decided to try out Burgoo by TMG. This is a very simple yet fun game. It can be a bit stale with only 2 players but it is by all means perfectly suitable for 2 players. I imagine it would be more exciting with more players however.

After a quick and easy run down of the rules we were up and cooking in no time at all. Surprisingly I had actually won this game! But I account the win to the fact that I confused my wife on how to win the game.

Wooden Battlefield!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the "Game a Day" challenge my lovely wife and I played a few rounds of Crokinole on my custom made board!

I figured it had been quite a while since we last played that it was time for some simplicity as well as a bit of strategy, aiming and a TINY bit of luck.

The game started out not being in my favor but by the end of it all, surprisingly I had taken the win!

Monster Madness!

What's going on everyone!? Today my lovely wife had to work another 16 hour shift unfortunately so I had to play a game on my own. I haven't been feeling well nearly all day so I opted to try out Boss Monster Mobile!

It's a little clunky for the controls but the game does play the same as the card version. It's got some benefits to it such as auto calculating your totals for you which is a nice change up but I still like the card version better.

In a pinch it works wonderfully though when you don't have another opponent with you to enjoy the original. The best part? I actually won!

We were in Stitches tonight!

What's going on everyone!? Tonight for the "Game a Day" we played a review copy of an awesome new game coming called Stitches! I should be getting a review up for it sometime in the near future but for now, I gotta say this is a pretty fun game!

We all ended up winning as a team with my lovely wife being the winner overall. (SURPRISE! :P )

All in all, it was a great time as usual as we built our monsters of random body parts.

Gambits!

What's going on everyone!? Today has been a HELL of a day to be honest. We had to get stuff together for a friend and load up a truck to haul it away. It was a horrendous job to say the least. Infested with fleas and foul odors that would make a pig gag.

So needless to say, we unfortunately didn't have time to play a game at the table like I was hoping. But just before my lovely wife went to bed we played a quick game of Star Realms Mobile.

Not surprisingly, she kicked my butt!

Last one for a little while...

What's going on everyone?! I apologize for all the posts recently of Star Realms Mobile. The truth is, at the end of a long day, when there's not much time to spare it is something we enjoy before bed.

Now unfortunately I DID start a game with my lovely wife while we were laying here in bed but she ended up falling to sleep after something like turn 6, lol. So that meant I scoured the online play scene for someone else to play.

Well it didn't take long for me to find someone... Or for them to kick my butt, lol.

Be sure to keep an eye out for tomorrow's post as it will have a few different games at the table! We've got some good ones to try out and I'm eager for us all to meet around the table again! :)

I found a Group!

What's going on everyone!? Today my lovely wife had to work a double so we still didn't get a chance to play a new game. I DID however come across this awesome Star Realms group on facebook and is it GREAT!

Within an hour I had played TONS of new people and the best part is (Aside from their politeness) that you get to TALK to them and tell them "Good Game". They're also VERY helpful in that they have a program to help you play better as well!

I could go on and on but I bet you can see where this one is going. For today's "Game a Day" challenge I played Star Realms Mobile again. I know it's a repeat game for all you readers and it's probably getting old to you but I just couldn't help but play it today. As a matter of fact, I played quite a few games of it today, somewhere around 10 - 15.

Surprisingly I actually WON a game or two! :D

Late night again

What's going on everyone!? Today has been another LONG day with chores being done around the house as I clean up my video game room and get ready to unload it all to make room for my office space.

Not only that, my beautiful daughter got released from school early today due to a water main break in our town. Not sure how long it will last but we're under a boil water advisory until further notice.

Along with this, my lovely wife ended up working close to a 16 hour shift today and didn't really get home in time for us to sit down at the table and play a game like I was hoping. So since we were both tired we decided on another game of Star Realms Mobile.

The game went great until she kicked my butt as usual(I promise, I DO try..lol!) and shortly after we both fell fast asleep. I had just happen to get up realizing I didn't make the post for the night so here it is! :P

Airboat Botany!

What's going on everyone!? Tonight for the "Game a Day" challenge I played a solo game of one I've been wanting to try out for a while now that I was graciously donated called Swamped by Bellwether Games!

I did a solo run to prepare for showing this little gem to my lovely wife so we could try it out and WOW! It's such a simplistic game but is lots of fun! I'm a sucker for modular boards so this is a key variable that MAY make me a little biased towards this game but seriously, the game was a blast to play and only takes anywhere from 15 - 30 minutes.

I started out on "Easy" but as I was just doing a solo run through of the game to understand it there wasn't much challenge since it's a game for 2 - 4. I think when my lovely wife and I play, we'll be upping the difficulty for sure. :)

It's a war of the colonies!

What's going on everyone!? Today was a pretty busy day so we didn't get a chance to learn a new game today which I was hoping to do. I had an appointment which took up a lot of the afternoon, then came home to mow and do some other stuff. By the time all was said and done it was getting a bit late so we ended up playing a game we knew, Star Realms: Colony Wars!

As usual, she kicked my but right when I thought I was doing great and had a chance it all went down hill from there, lol.

As it always is, I had a blast and really love getting to play games with her in person more than anything.

Here are a few pics from tonight's session:

I love when we have time to game together during a day but sometimes the mobile versions are all we can get time for. Please keep in mind that I don't intend to fill this blog with only Star Realms or anything(Not that there's anything wrong with that! lol!). I will be spending the rest of the week working on learning a few more new games to add to the table and if all goes well I'm hoping for a live stream friday or saturday. :D

Happy Birthaversary!

What's going on everyone!? Today has been a great day all in all. It was my lovely wife's birthday as well as our anniversary! We had a great time spent with our beautiful daughter and my dear ol' pops.

I would like to thank everyone for the well wishes that we have received as it just goes to show how kind nearly everyone is in this wonderful board game community.

Unfortunately we were busy spending time doing other things that I regret to say we didn't get to sit down together to play a game for this special day. My lovely wife made a great dinner of home made biscuits and sausage gravy after and I think that was the last straw for her. She was very tired from the eventful day and ended up falling asleep before we could get a game to the table together.

I just didn't have the heart to wake her up so I ended up playing a game of Star Realms Mobile online against someone. It was a great game and very close at times but in the end they got the win. I had a blast playing the game and look forward to playing them again in the future!

Bossing the Boss

What's going on everyone!? Tonight for the "Game a Day" challenge my lovely wife, dear ol' pops and I all played Boss Monster! The reason I chose this game was because tomorrow is my lovely wife's birthday as well as our anniversary and I had some cards hidden in the game that I had made.

It was a great game and VERY close but in the end, my wife and I ended up getting in a tie for the first time ever! Turns out she had won due to the tie breaker though. We all had a blast and laughed as well as cursed each other a bit but I wouldn't have it any other way.
