pReview: THWARTED!

How's everyone out there in game land doing today!? I recently had a chance given to me to review this awesome new card game from Mark over at Vile Genius Games called Thwarted! which is currently on kickstarter for just ONE MORE DAY! and it's GREAT!

So sit back, grab your favorite beverage stained super suite and let's check out Thwarted!

As always here's an excerpt:

"A Fast paced card game where players assume the rolls of the Villains!"

Now, with that being said, what IS Thwarted?

Thwarted is a fast paced, take that, family game where ALL players get to take on the rolls of the villains for once! I know right!? It's about time!

So to start the game out you shuffle both the power deck and the hero deck. Once these are shuffled each player cards as their starting hand. To figure out who goes first just yell at each other until someone wins. We're villains after all!

So now, you set the deck of power cards in the center of the table within reach of all players. Next you set the deck of hero cards in the center and draw out as many heroes as there are villains.

On your turn you;

Draw a card from the power deck
Decide if you would like to play an action card(evil deed card)
Decide if you want to fight one of the super heroes in the city(The line of cards with all the heroes in it)
Draw a card from the power deck to signal that your turn has ended.

So, actions... Players will have different cards they can play as an action. This will most likely be the "Evil Deed" cards. They me be anything from target villain discards a card to you or All villains discard their entire hand and have it shuffled all together and re delt out starting with the player who played the evil deed.

On top of this there are thwart cards. These cards have no color affiliation and are meant to be played in order to block another players attempt at an evil deed or attack. Now, the Thwarted cards ARE stack-able so keep this in mind before potentially wasting yours!

Other cards are evil deeds and blocks and other such things. This cards will allow a player a possible special ability or can be turned in as a group of cards to capture a superhero,

And that's pretty much the premise of the game in a nut shell.

On to my opinion:

Game Art: The art on the cards for this game are wonderfully done! Each one feels like it's about to jump right off the card and onto the next franchise super hero movie!

Game play: Game play takes no time at all. You definitely have to have some strategy but it's also a very simplistic and easy to learn game. After one play through we knew it well enough that we were able to teach without resorting to the rules book again.

Game Quality: High quality cards with bright crisp colors! There's nothing not to like here!

So, should you buy this game? Hmmm... How do I put this delicately... YES, YES, YES! Buy this awesome and fun card game NOW!

ONLY 1 day left on kickstarter!

As always, thank you for reading and don't forget to stop and smell the meeples! :)
