It wasn't me, it was the...

What's going on everyone!? Today was spent getting back into the regular swing of things and dear ol' pops seems to be doing just fine other than a little sore.

Because of the surgery, he's been having to use a sling for his arm to keep from moving it and causing the wound to bleed. This means that I was trying to find a game that doesn't require two hands to play. Card games are possible but would have probably been an inconvenience for him.

This left dice games or other games with tokens and such that could be played with ease. I ended up picking Zombie Farkle for us to play. Mainly because it's a very easy game but also because it was getting a little late.

We ended up playing to 2500 and somehow I managed to win but only by 100 points. It was a VERY close game!

Long Day!!!

What's going on everyone!? Today has been a LONG day with my dear ol'pops having his heart surgery. I'm glad to say he made it through smoothly.

Today for the game a day I opted for Ticket To Ride Mobile while I spend the night with dad to make sure he's good to go.

The big day

What's going on everyone!? Tomorrow is the day that dear ol'pops goes in to heart surgery. As you can probably imagine, I'm a bit stressed as well as scared and completely drained from having some back pain worse than normal and a wonderful migraine for the past two days.

Tonight we're staying at his place so we can head out in the morning so for the game a day I just played a game of Ticket To Ride Mobile.

In the end it would have been nice to play against a person but I think we're all a bit exhausted. I'm not sure if I can post pics since I'm using my tablet to write this so if there is a lack of pics for the next couple days I apologize a head of time and I'll fix it when I get home.

Camels and Castles!

What's going on everyone!? Today is the last day for us to spend a full day together with my dear ol' pops before he goes into heart surgery on Tuesday. I thought to day was going to be a miserable day because I had a horrible migraine that is STILL with me even as I write this.

Not wanting to waste a moment of the day I tried my best to think of something to do that would let us spend time together as a family as well as help me keep my mind of the pain as best as possible. So today we spent most of the day playing a couple games.

First up was Five Tribes, the game I was hoping to get to play last night. It was a great time and I'm happy to say that we all had a blast with it. In the end dear ol' pops ended up scoring first place, my lovely wife got second and I got last.

After a short intermission to get something to eat we then played Castles of Burgundy. Dear ol' pops seemed to pick this one up fairly quick as well so the time was spent competing for resources and having fun talking trash.

By the time the game ended dear ol' pops scored first in this one as well with over 150 points! My lovely wife got second again and scored 146 and unfortunately I screwed up on the placement of a few buildings so I was DQ'd and didn't score at all. There was just no way I could calculate what points I shouldn't have gotten and how many I should have.

Aggravating? Definitely after 2 hours... Mad? Sure! But MAN you should have seen it, it was a hell of a game between us!

Today we were a but undecided for the Game a Day because it had gotten a bit late. After I took a refresher through 5 Tribes rulebook and set the game up, my lovely wife was very tired and had gone to lay down before I got the game out.

So with her being very tired and going to bed a bit early I picked up the game(I might try again tomorrow, lol) and my beautiful daughter, dear ol' pops and I agreed on a game that we all know and love... Ticket To Ride: Europe!

It was a GREAT game and we all enjoyed ourselves. It's not the same without my lovely wife playing with us but sometimes she needs to just give in and rest while she can.

Waiter, I'd like to change my order!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the Game a Day challenge my lovely wife, dear ol' pops and I played our first game of Escape from the Aliens in Outer Space from Osprey Games!

We had a great time and it is definitely one that I REALLY liked. Unfortunately for me, I was killed as a human. I was resurrected as an alien player and tried my best to get my wife before she made it out alive but to no avail.

In the end, I REALLY want to play again so I know at least ONE of the games I'll be playing tomorrow, lol. It was a great time and I can't wait to see what other games are played over the weekend.

Monkey Madness and The Family Farm!

What's going on everyone!? I hope everyone has had a wonderful Thanksgiving today! For the Game a Day challenge my lovely wife, beautiful daughter, dear ol' pops and I played a couple games of Coconuts from Mayday Games and finished with a game of Agricola Family Edition from Mayfair Games!

Coconuts was a great opener game and was filled with lots of laughs and goofing off. Surprisingly I won the first game and then my daughter won the second game.

After that we all played Agricola Family Edition and had an absolute BLAST! The game went very smoothly and it was our daughters first time playing. She caught on really quickly and was off and running.

Throughout the game it was a constant battle for wondering who would place their meeples where. The board for 4 players is perfectly balanced in my opinion, it was congested but in a good sense. You really couldn't hesitate on your turn. If you seen something you wanted/needed then you better get it while you have a chance, lol.

The surprise came at the end of the game when we counted up our scores. My lovely wife and I tied straight across with 32 points each! Not only that, my dear ol' pops and beautiful daughter tied straight across with 20 points!!!

We were all surprised at the outcome and everyone counted and re-counted once more but sure enough it was ties for all of us, lol!

To end the day, I honestly couldn't think of a better way than to tie with my family. There was no one who was "better" than the others tonight which meant that it was sheer fun and enjoyment. I'm thankful for such an ending to any day but on Thanksgiving of all days was perfect!

Sins and Space!

What's going on everyone!? Today there was an awesome surprise that arrived in the mail! It's something I can't wait to get to the table and is simply awesome looking!

Later on this evening my lovely wife and I played a game of Star Realms Mobile for the Game a Day challenge. It was a great battle but in the end I got my butt kicked as usual.

Convention Time!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the Game a Day challenge my lovely wife, beautiful daughter, her friend and I played Assassin Con from Mayday Games.

It was a blast to play and had a great secretive mechanic to it. You are constantly wondering who is out to get you while you simultaneously try to assassinate your target player!

After what was a quick first round of learning the game seemed to go by at a nice pace. It was definitely a game that I look forward to playing again maybe with dear ol' pops in as the fourth player some time.

Speaking of dear ol' pops, he's in the hospital tonight and supposedly ok but you can never tell when it comes to heart problems so be sure to keep him in your thoughts. He and I would greatly appreciate it more than you know. With the holidays in the near future it's always a stressful time to hear that a loved one is in the hospital.

RUUUUUN!!!!!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the Game a Day challenge my lovely wife, dear ol' pops and I played Escape Zombie City.

It was a great game and is a nice change of pace to have to "Hurry". Adding a soundtrack element to the game is also a nice change up that helps set the mood and pace of the game.

I'm happy to say that we all survived... BARELY. It was as close as could possibly be and we got it out with less than 5 seconds to spare!

games, Games, GAMES!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the Game a Day challenge my lovely wife, beautiful daughter, dear ol' pops and I played some Code Names, Le Boomb! and some King of Tokyo!

It was a great time and I didn't get a single win tonight but that's just fine with me. I loved every minute of the time spent together.
