rrrrRRRACK 'EM UP AGAIN!

What's going on everyone!?

First and foremost I've got some exciting news to share with you! After I did the live stream of last night's "Game a Day" challenge where we played The Last Spike by Columbia Games, I had made the rounds with the post like I usually do.

This morning I was pleased to see that Columbia Games' Facebook page took notice in the post and said that ALL VIEWERS OF THE BLOG can get FREE SHIPPING UNTIL SATURDAY if you order the game directly from their site! How cool is that!?!? Just another reason I love being part of the board gaming community! :)

So if you're reading this, Head on over to the KYBG FACEBOOK PAGE, Give it a like if you haven't already(and if you don't mind) and check for the post with the special code for the FREE SHIPPING!

:Now onto your regularly scheduled post:

Today for the "Game a Day" challenge my lovely wife and I played some more "Crokipool"! I figured since I had done  slight modification to the table today that it would be a good time to try it out.

The only thing I really did other than add some wire underneath to hang it from the wall was sanded down the lip on the edge of each pocket slightly since there was a small buildup of polyurethane on them. It turned out to work out just as I had planned and the pucks went in without getting hung up on the edges. Keep in mind, this didn't make it any easier to make the shots, it simply made it more true to form by allowing them to glide in if the shot was right.

We both did fairly well with 1 win each. I ended up winning the third game for a "best of 3" match. All in all, I know that my wife isn't crazy about the game because of it's difficulty (maybe next time I ask her what to play she'll pick a game :P ) but I love it. Of course I could just be biased to it but I honestly think it's fun!

I hear the train a comin'

What's going on everyone!? Tonight for the "Game a Day" challenge I decided to try something a little different. I attempted to live stream our session! < click here to check out the video!

It seemed to work for the most part but the echo on the video was HORRIBLE! I'm going to try and get that situated for the next stream but I'm not sure when that will be yet. I was thinking once or twice a week though. Maybe more? I just don't know yet.

Tonight for the challenge we played The Last Spike. My lovely wife kicked my butt in the game but I still think this is a great one. After about one more play through I should have a review up soon!

Here's the only pic I got of tonight's session:

Helloooo Minion!

What's going on everyone!? Today has been yet another productive day. This morning dear 'ol Pops and I created and welded up a grill for his truck. I did the welding but he was the brains for sure, lol!

After that we watched a movie and he headed on home at which point I spent the better half of the evening straightening up my workshop a bit since it was getting to be a horrible mess.

Tonight for the "Game a Day" my lovely wife and I played some Yahtzee. She's not too keen on luck based dice games sometimes and although she tried as best as possible I beat her 2 out of 3 games right off the bat. I know if we put it to worker placement or something similar she would have probably kicked my butt.

I only got one pic tonight since we were just slinging some dice but I'm sure you know all about Yahtzee, lol.

Back to the Castle, Quick!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the "Game a Day" challenge my lovely wife, beautiful daughter and wise ol Pops and I had another try at Castle Panic with the Wizards Tower expansion.

I've got to say, this expansion REALLY shows just how to do an expansion properly. When you get an expansion that changes the game in slight ways, adds more challenge but not too much and just adds overall value to a game, you KNOW you're doing it right!

My hat is off to Justin over at Fireside Games. This is truly a fun game in the beginning but with wizards tower it made the game AMAZING!

So anyways, we did a LOT better at defending the castle this time although we still failed. We made it through all but 8 more monsters in the draw bag! Maybe next time we'll do better though!

Yarg, Place ye bets!

What's going on everyone!? Today's been a pretty nice day outside, Other than the rain towards the evening. I'm slowly getting my workshop cleaned up and organized after the few wood projects I've done lately(I'm very appreciative of having my own place to work on such things but an 8x10 building just isn't large enough for all the things that I've got in there, lol!)

Tonight for the "Game a Day" challenge my lovely wife and I played Captains Wager which I received in a review sample box for Tabletop Monthly subscription box that I'll be reviewing soon. So be sure to keep an eye out for that one as well as another monthly box review called Dungeon Crate I'll be doing too!

Turns out, as usual, my lovely wife doesn't disappoint and kicked my butt at this game as well. I wouldn't have it any other way though, I swear I don't GIVE her these wins! I mean, I like winning and it may seem mean but I like making her lose from time to time but man is it more difficult than you would think, lol!

RRRRACK 'Em Up!

What's going on everyone!? After a few more rainy days I was able to finish up 98% of the work on my Crokipool Table. You know what that means? Today, I'm glad to say that my lovely wife and I played some racks for the "Game a Day" challenge!

I'm REALLY liking the performance of the table and pucks and only have a few minor tweaks I'm going to incorporate. Other than that I would say it has done better than I thought it ever would. Tonight we played best 2 out of 3 for both 8-Ball and 9-Ball. Leave it to my wife to actually win more than I did, lol!

All in all, it was a GREAT time and I have to admit, there's nothing like playing a game that you built from scratch. Sure, I've made prototypes and all but I mean this in a different way. From a woodworkers standpoint I guess you could say. It's an amazing feeling when two hobbies collide and make something you're proud of!

Quick, Call the Wizard!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the "Game a Day" challenge my lovely wife and I played something that I've been itching to get to the table. Last month a the Lexicon Tabletop Convention I was able to pic up something I've been wanting for the past year. The Wizards Tower expansion for Castle Panic by FIRESIDE GAMES!

As excited as I was to get it to the table, it unfortunately took this long, but the wait was over tonight! We got to play an intense session using this expansion and WOW did it add a lot more to the game! At first I was thinking "eh, this should be pretty cool. We're not bad at the core game so hopefully this will give us some challenge". Boy was I WRONG! This expansion is AWESOME! It adds in not only wizard cards which can have magical spells and abilities on them but also, new monsters, new castle cards, the wizards tower and probably the most dreaded of the set, Mega Boss Monsters!

So after going through the setup which was pretty straight forward and quick, we were finally ready to play. Things started of on a decent note with us still having the confidence that we have in the core game but that soon went away as we were getting slaughtered by the enemies new and old!

We ended up lasting quite a while into the game and even had to reshuffle the castle cards once before meeting our untimely doom.

All in all, I will DEFINITELY play this one again, it's amazing how much is added and changed up for the better. Maybe we'll get better luck next time but for now, I'm kind of thankful we lost RIGHT before the dreaded dragon had come out! It was actually the next monster that would have been placed had we not lost the turn before!

TIIIIIMBERRR!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the "Game a Day" challenge I thought it would be fun to play a simple game with my family that I'm surprised to say we've never played together before. Sure I've played it plenty when I was younger and I'm sure my lovely wife has as well, but I'm pretty sure I've never played it correctly as I was pretty young at the time and just interested in building things and knocking them down (Who doesn't love doing that!?).

Anyways, today for the first time in my little families history we played Jenga... well... a knock off version anyway..lol.

The other reason for choosing this game is it was getting close to my daughters bed time for school so I thought this would be a fast and fun game to play. I also used this as an opportunity to have us all dawn my awesome hard hat that dear 'ol Pops gave me a little while back, lol.

Here's a few pics from tonight's session:

As you can see, there was great fun had by all! It was something that I often look back to in my gaming years and try to recall such wonderful things happening that can be laughed about.

We three kings!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the "Game a Day" challenge I got to play my second game of Isle of Skye as well as introduce my dear 'ol Pops to it. My lovely wife, dad and I all had a great time playing it and I am REALLY liking this game. The review will be coming as soon as I can get a couple more plays under my belt to make a fair assessment of the game.

Out of the three of us I managed to steal the win somehow but the game was truly a close one with us passing each other in points standings throughout the game.

Here's a few pics of today's session:

More gaming goodness!

What's going on everyone!? Tonight for the "Game a Day" challenge we played two game I'll be reviewing from minion games called Perspective and another called Sun, Moon and Stars. Both are new micro card games they've got available for purchase recently.

So sit back, grab your favorite beverage and lets see how these games stack up!

First off is Perspective. This game is a pretty good one. In the game, you and other players are trying to place your cards in the correct order before the other players. The catch? You can't see the side of the cards that display the order your trying to match up.

Next up is Sun, Moon and Stars. This game is a little easier to grasp for first timers and it has some really tricky strategies to it. In the game players are 1 of 4 spirit animals. Each animal has a certain order of the sun, moon and stars can be in front of another player or your self to win.

All in all we had a great game night, and the games were perfect for the time limits we had to play game in. :)
