Gaming Goodness!

What's going on everyone!? Today was a different kind of day for the "Game a Day" challenge. I was invited to a friends Boardgame Birthday Bash and so my dear ol' pops, beautiful daughter and I went to it! I mean, how could I say "No" to going to tell a friend Happy Birthday and NOT want to play boardgames!?!?

At the event I got to partake in a fun party style game called 2 Rooms and a Bomb. It was definitely a fun game and I'm very glad I had the chance to play it!

After that, my dear ol' pops, beautiful daughter, another person and I also got to play Train Maker! It was a lot of fun being able to introduce someone else to one of the dice games we love and they even took note so they could find a copy for themselves! :D

Lastly the person who joined in on Train Maker brought in Ticket To Ride: My first Journey and we tried that one out with them so they could demo it and get an overall review of it. Turns out that was a VERY fun and simplistic version of TTR which is not only great for children but also for adults and the elderly. It's definitely one I want to look into getting for my collection as well.

Fast forward to getting home later in the evening and we played a game of Flip City with my dear ol' pops, lovely wife and I. It was another GREAT experience and a game I can't wait to play again. We thought pops had the win but turns out on my turn RIGHT after him I was able to lock in a win! All in all it was a wonderful day spent with great friends old and new as well as my wonderful family to finish up the day.

Train to winnersville!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the "Game a Day" challenge my beautiful daughter and I played a quick game of Train Maker. And when I say "quick" I mean QUICK!

She completely STOMPED me in this session and completed her objective in TWO TURNS! I couldn't be more proud to be honest.

It was a great time and plenty of fun was had as we joked and rolled dice. Because it is getting late I opted for just the one game of it but I would have preferred to play another game or two of it with her.

Building & Sailing & Raiding, Oh My!

What's going on everyone!? Today was a great session for the "Game a Day" challenge! My lovely wife and I got to pop this awesome game you may have heard of from NSKN Games called In the name of Odin out of it's shrink wrap tomb!

It was a VERY pleasant experience and the game did NOT disappoint in the least. At the end of the game I ended up winning but not by much. If we had one more round I believe my lovely opponent would have stolen the win!

Dragons!!!!!!!

What's going on everyone!? Tonight for the "Game a Day" challenge I played a solo game of Dragon Slayer Dice.

It was rough going but I made it to 42 points before the green dragon decided to turn me into the Kentucky FRIED Gamer!

If you're wondering about how I play a solo version of this, I use three of the provided tokens as "Lives". Each time I lose all three dice I discard a life and continue going. When I discard the last token the game is over and I jot down my score.

It's a pretty fun way to challenge yourself at this game and I highly recommend you give it a shot sometime if you happen to have it.

Hellooo Minion!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the "Game a Day" challenge my lovely wife and I played a game of Yahtzee since she didn't get a chance to play it with dear ol' pops and I this weekend.

After what seemed like a losing battle I somehow pulled a win out of my hat! The score was 271 to 198.

Zombie Dice... Solo!

What's going on everyone!? Well, the weekend is over and it's back to the quiet boring life until next weekend. Tonight for the "Game a Day" challenge I opted for a solo game of Zombie Dice!

The way that I do this is by trying to get 13 or higher within three "lives". Each life goes until you get 3+ shotguns.

I was able to hit 13 RIGHT at the end! I was on my third life and had 2 shotguns against me with 12 points total. Since it was my last life, what did I have to lose!? Turns out I got it!

Just for fun, I took ONE MORE roll to see "what if". I would have been annihilated, lol!

Expedition Time!

What's going on everyone!? Today for the "Game a Day" challenge my dear ol' pops and I played Lost Cities. It was his first time playing it so I was glad to show him this awesome game.

After one game, he ended up winning and more importantly liking the game! The score was a shutout really with him at 297 to my humble 111, lol!

Yarg, Roll Em!

What's going on everyone!? Today has been a very sobering day. As most of my readers know, my dear ol' pops usually comes over for a weekend visit. Well, this time he did as normal but we got some bad news from one of his doctors today.

See, he's got a bad ticker. It's only working at about 40% or so after having 3 massive heart attacks... or so we thought.

Today he got a call saying that his test from his latest appointment was not good. Not just "you might have something to worry about" but "Bad". They told him that he has WAY less than 40% of his heart working and that he can go into cardiac arrest at ANY moment. They also mentioned that he had either had a small heart attack recently or he was getting ready to have a bad one.

Which ever the case may be, the next one will off him "for sure". Now, the reason that I put that last bit in a quote is because it was told to him just like that.

So anyways, the news was so bad that a nurse had to make a special emergency trip from two hours away all the way out here to my house to put a "life vest" on him. The easiest way to describe this vest is to say that it is a mobile defibrillator as well as a heart monitor.  If his heart or something starts going wrong it will give a warning beep which he can disable if it were something that might happen because of a bad connection from a sensor.

If it's NOT caused by a sensor and is in fact his heart or a difficulty with it, It will give two more warnings and by the time the last warning happens he will have 5 Seconds to disable it. They said if it ever comes to the last warning that by that time he will probably be unconscious and zap him a good one.

I'm sorry for mentioning all of this to those of you who may not be bothered by this news and I don't blame any of you as you don't know him or I personally for 99% of you. I just had to get this out there and off of my chest because there has been a LOT going on for us lately in terms of "bad news" and this one really takes the cake.

I mean, who want's to face the fact that they will be losing their parent at any moment?

Today for the "Game a Day" challenge my dear ol' pops, a friend and I played Buccaneer Bones!

It's a great little dice game that I've played before with my lovely wife so it was nice to share it with others. It's VERY simple to learn and still fun to play which is always a nice thing.

Surprisingly, I was able to use a bit of strategy to grab the win!

Roll it!!!

What's going on everyone!? Today has been a pretty eventful day. Dear ol' dad has been around and we did some touchup work on his truck. Then we set up a few lights on my mower as well.

Tonight ended pretty early for us so we decided to play a good game of Yahtzee. Between the two of us he ended up coming out the winner with 21 more points! And that was after we BOTH had yahtzee's..lol.


All in all it was GREAT fun and I always can not wait to play a game with him again.

Who did it!?

What's going on everyone!? Today we got a great surprise when dear ol' Pops decided to come for his weekend visit a day early!

This mean more time to talk, mess with his truck together and share stories and laughs over a board game. Tonight, my lovely wife, dear ol' pops and I all decided to take it back to oldschool by playing CLUE!

It was a very fun and eventful game with some really great guesses and deductions but in the end my lovely wife walked away with the win!
